About Beat the Gaffer

He calls the scores. Your regulars try to beat him.

Beat the Gaffer is a weekly Premier League score-prediction game. Every gameweek, players call the scoreline for all ten fixtures, and try to outscore The Gaffer, a cheeky, opinionated in-house pundit who locks in his own calls before kick-off.

Over the World Cup, 41 pubs ran their own prediction leagues through the platform, regulars against each other, then pub against pub down the road. Beat the Gaffer is now bringing that to the full Premier League season, and building it out properly for pubs: free leagues, a pub-vs-pub derby feature, and print-ready extras for the bar.

Still early days This is a young, fast-moving product, currently signing up its first wave of pubs for the season. Worth going in with eyes open on that basis.

4

A pub-vs-pub night. Your locals against the rival pub down the road, loser buys.

Why This Matters

A weekly reason to walk through the door.

A pub closing every day in this country is exactly the problem Save British Pubs exists to fight. Beat the Gaffer’s own pitch leans on the same idea: give people a weekly ritual, a laugh, an argument over a pint, and a reason to choose the local over the sofa.

A free prediction league is a low-effort way for a pub to give regulars that reason, matchday after matchday, without anyone having to organise a thing.
